Alice in wonderland

A Journey Within

time is running

When Alice runs after a white rabbit in the garden, she falls through its burrow and ends up in a fantasy world. There she encounters a number of wondrous characters: a Cheshire Cat who suddenly becomes invisible, a Mad Hatter and a March Hare who invite her to a tea party, and the Queen of Hearts who would love to have someone’s head chopped off. As Alice stumbles from one whimsical adventure to the next, she learns to stand by her own convictions. Lewis Caroll’s ‘Alice in Wonderland’ was published in 1865 and is now one of the classics of world literature. Alice’s curious adventures not only delight children, they also inspire the imagination of readers of all ages and from all disciplines, from art to maths. As one of the best-known works of literary nonsense, the story does not follow a clear plot, but instead constantly focuses on new characters. With ‘Alice in Wonderland’, Dominique Dumais has created her first evening of action for the Mainfranken Theatre dance ensemble. She draws inspiration from the quirky characters to create an amusing yet profound piece. The evening will be accompanied musically by percussion artist Peter Hinz. His composition brings the various whimsical characters in the story to life in sound, while he himself becomes part of the fantasy world. Translated with DeepL.com (free version)
Lauschangriff opens the ears, makes us aware of the sounds around us and the possibility to turn everyday objects into music and musical instruments. Nothing sounds the way it sounds but rather, sounds the way we hear it and the way we want to experience it.
