Bambi
A Tale of courage
With astonished eyes, on wobbly legs and with a large portion of curiosity, Bambi the fawn sets off with his mother to discover the forest. But after losing his mother, Bambi is left to fend for himself. He has to learn that the other animals don’t always want to help him with their ‘favours’ and that everyone is out for themselves. It is only when deer friend Faline comes up with the idea of organising a gathering of all the animals in the forest that society begins to change.
Published almost 100 years ago, Salten’s nature novel is an impressive account of the relationship between man and nature. In the polyphonic adaptation by Oliver Schmaering, written for the Junge Staatstheater Berlin, this can also be heard and felt musically in the Eisenach production.
